What Phlebotomists Do?

The responsibility of a Phlebotomist is to perform various tasks, out of which many of them might be job specific. In general terms the major job responsibility of a phlebotomist is to draw blood for the human body but in different manners and conditions. Like wise the case of Phlebotomist’s working for Red Cross might have to take small samples for testing and then withdrawing large amounts of bloods for the purpose of donations. While on the other hand for phlebotomist’s working in either clinics or hospitals the major job role is to collect blood for the purpose of testing and identifying diseases, infections and severe cause of health problems.     

What Do Phlebotomist’s Learn:

While working as a Phlebotomist you will be able to learn how to perform venipuncture through out your phlebotomy certification training. Once you are in to these certification trainings, you will be able to find that there is much more to be learned. A Phlebotomist is required to take all the anatomy and physiology classes in order to learn the basic techniques of first aid. Along with this a phlebotomist is educated how to keep safety in handling blood along with preventing control of infectious diseases. Remember safety is always a concern in the medical field; hence a certified phlebotomist must be able to adopt all proper protocols in handling medical equipment, blood samples and various specimens collected.
